The language of mediation is open to everyone

My goal is to make the language of mediation accessible to everyone who wants or needs it. Understanding listening, needs, interests and the search for agreement can help us approach disagreements differently โ€” at home, at work and in our communities.

That is why I have made this introductory course available to watch free of charge. These 10 lessons introduce the New Partnership Method and the foundations of mediation. Learn at your own pace, with no course registration or payment required.

Theoretical learning only โ€” no certificate

This course provides theoretical knowledge and an introduction to mediation. Watching the lessons, even the entire course, is not sufficient to work as a mediator and does not constitute professional mediator training.

No certificate is issued โ€” neither a certificate of completion nor a mediator certificate. Independent viewing does not include supervised practice, individual feedback, a practicum or specialist training.

Who is this course for?

Anyone who wants to understand communication, conflict and the principles of mediation. No prior legal, therapeutic or mediation background is needed. The course explores needs and interests, collaborative negotiation, listening, questions, trust and agreements. Examples and demonstrations support understanding; they do not replace supervised experience.

Introductory learning, practicum and specialization

Introductory online course

Self-paced theoretical learning introduces the concepts and ways of thinking used in mediation. It does not assess your practical competence and does not award a certificate.

Practicum: supervised experience

A practicum is a separate setting for guided practice, professional feedback and the development of practical skills. Watching a recorded demonstration is not a practicum.

Specialization: deeper study of a particular field

Specialist training focuses on the knowledge and skills needed in a particular area, such as divorce and family mediation. It is separate from this free introductory course.

Professional practice requires appropriate further training, guided practice and supervised experience. Viewing this course does not automatically qualify you for admission to a practicum or specialist program; each provider sets its own requirements.
